Winter Play

May 30, 2009

Many of Leunig’s cartoons can be found on line in the cartoon library of The Age  here. Yesterdays Leunig was at his whimsical best

I’ll probably just play with some fabric which seems quite boring compared to some of those options.

Lyn received her seasonal Autumn/Winter range of Liberty Tana lawn fabrics and very, very kindly gave Effie and her ‘part-timers’  some fat quarters to play with. The Liberty fabrics are so beautiful, intricate and unusually coloured that they really do inspire. I have put mine next to my Medallion quilt because I’ll probably use at least some of them there and most of the colours I really love are in that quilt.

Do come and have a look at the range, some of which is on Lyn’s website now. Some of the designs have really departed from the traditional Liberty style in a BIG way. One or two of the fabrics in the range have designs  featuring hand-grenades, soldiers and spear guns. There are two pretty prints drawn with Munch like ghostly heads. I am really tempted by the beautifully coloured fabric  in pink, grey and apricot colours with black fine drawings, I’m just not sure about the burning building.  Am I being too sensitive? Have a look. What do you think?
Lyn can, and does send these fabrics all over the world if there is one or two that you would love and can’t find nearer to you.
