‘too many notes’

September 26, 2010

I’m sure Beethoven must have said that on one of those days.

It turns out that that has been the problem with my  ‘stuck’ quilts and it has been a great month of problem solving, thinking about things and doing a bit of unpicking.

The salmony yellowey pinks have come out. In fact it seems to be a theme for me. It is better if I mainly stick to cooler colours and I keep tring to use yellow and alwayss run into trouble when I do.

Looks better without them doesn’t it?

Now for the crib quilt.

I am happy to have machine quilted  for the first time.

I sprained my thumb badly (going to pat the dog when she sprang up to answer a doorbell!) and was unable to hand sew for a while.

On a small quilt the quilting really wasn’t too hard. The only trouble is I like the back of the quilt better than the front. Fresh’ clean and pretty beat my attempt and summery simple and ‘mod’ I think.

I spent more time doing a really nice binding and I will try and do that in future because I think it made a difference.

I’m only ‘checking in’ quickly to the blogosphere because again I will be away for weeks. This is turning out to be amy year of living dangerously!

The party was a success by the way and next time I post I will give the recipe for this ‘chocolate explosion cake’.

I am not a cook with many credentials but this was easy and worth a diversion. I will even provide a diagram for the way I think it was meant to look! What we all looked like after the party…..

Hi Kathy, so great to hear that the party has been a grand success… Bear seem to be utterly exhausted after entertaining guests… cute picture!!! Every time I see him I just want to give him a huge bear hug! so adorable!!
The chocolate cake is beautiful!! It has an interesting texture. I would love to try it 🙂
The crib quilt is soft & sweet and I like the pattern the quilting lines form. The nine-patch blocks are bright and cheerful. The stripes look great.
Have a wonderful spring!! Take care!
